Kathmandu hand warmer how does it work

They say they have 4 for 1 now, but when I put it in the cart it only seems to be 2 for 1 pricing. If someone really wants them they might want to chase this up. Collected mine and compared to my other random eBay ones they are not as warm, when activated the solution is still malleable where as my eBay ones go turn solid and are too hot to hold unless they are in their fabric pouches. No fabric pouches are provided for these from Katmandu and they were cold within the hour.

This was posted 6 years 3 months 26 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal. Go to Deal. These are great and you just put them into boiling water to reset them again after use Site Description: Pocket Hand Warmer gives an instant heat that is ideal for keeping hands warm while travelling, skiing, hiking and in any cold conditions. Probably, you can get everything on eBay, but most of them aren't reusable.

It's a good thing they're cheap - I would never pay full price for them. Reusable Pocket Hand Warmers Most guys already have one…. Speaking from experience after testing a handful of them Vanessa? No good? Reusable Pocket Hand Warmers Most guys already have two…. Im using some now. They work a treat! Heard from a staff member that stores will be giving away samples on the weekend. These types of warmers are awesome. Thanks for posting OP, good bargain.

Tried instore too. Does anyone know why northland or unihill dont appear on the list of shops to pick up from? Great find, mate! Awesome timing too. It's been effing cold in Melbourne! I haven't received an email and it's not in my order history.

Time to call them up. Thanks sween64, enjoy your handwarmers! Go figure! Grabbed three sets - thanks OP - would have been great to have them tomorrow. Even with store pickup I expect these won't be ready for the weekend. Think orders are sent to stores rather than stores picking orders from stock.

I guess I was the only one bought in store and got 9. Thanks OP, ordered on Friday! Cool, thanks for that. Damn thing still shows as processing from Friday…. Just got them. Seem to be not working. Do you have to boil them the very first time? Stainless steel is often used for this job. If you look at the video again, the solution begins to solidify radially outwards from the metal disk. When the metal disk is bent, the seed crystals trigger the solidification process and the solution starts to harden.

But this also means the hand-warmer would stop working if no seed crystals get stored in the metal disk during the recharging step. Product review It was very easy to active the hand-warmer. The hand-warmer warmed up almost instantly after I bent the disk.

It was decently warm as I could still feel the warmth on my thigh through my jeans. The heat from the hand-warmer lasted for about minutes. Following the instructions, I wrapped the hand-warmer in a towel and immersed it in a pot of boiling water for 15 minutes. Maybe because I turned off the stove after the water came to a boil, but some sodium acetate crystals were left in the hand-warmer and the hand-warmer eventually re-solidified.

I tried it again with the water continuously boiling and this time the sodium acetate crystals fully melted. Overall, the hand-warmer was easy to use and is small enough to carry around. Thanks for clearing up the science behind the warmers, I was afraid I was only going to find spiritual hot crystal massages when searching for this. That is a very good tip especially to those new to the blogosphere.

Simple but very accurate info… Appreciate your sharing this one. Good product, works as advertised Verified purchase: Yes Condition: New. Poor quality and value. Verified purchase: No. Best Selling in Daypacks See all. Caribee Calibre Hivis Backpack 4. Caribee Nile Backpack 30l - Black 5. I have put a hand warmer in my tea mug and used the Hot water feature on the tap that is connected to the coffee maker and it took about 12 minutes if I poured the hot water over the bag while it was in the cup and then put the lid on.

Worked fantastic, was warm from that for almost an hour and then activated it after that again. So first fact's first. Almost almost everyone knows you don't put metal cutlery and foil in the microwave. What happens is Well, I'm not an engineer or particle physicist but it basically polarizes the particles in the metal, I researched it one time for a short story I was writing. I can't remember which but I feel strongly that the correct word is ions The point however is that this is a problem on things with ridges.

Foil is a problem because of ridges. Forks are a problem because forks. Basically the sparking you're seeing is electricity formed by that polarized flow of particles arcing between ridges. If the disk inside the hand warmer is flat metal, you're fine, if it, like mine, has ridges in it, you might want to think twice.

That said, you should probably drop the thing in a bowl of water first, nuke for 1 minute, check, then repeat until the fluid is clear, any arcing that is caused will damage the product, not the device Though you may potentially burn your self or make a mess if you aren't careful. Discretion is always the better part of valor but the truth is you stand a better chance of overheating the metal disk and melting the container or overheating the liquid and causing the sealed container to pop than you do of blowing up the microwave.

Special note. Only ridged metal "arcs" but the polarization of Is present either way, metal does get very, very hot when exposed to microwaves. Even if it doesn't cause arcing. Which, unless you like third degree burns, is why you should not put plates with metal accents in the microwave. There is however a better way than most listed. You may have to go through amazon but there is a device intended for use with wax scented candles.

It's a heating plate. Idea is you place the jar on the heating plate to release the scented oils. They've fallen out of use hence why I suggest Amazon rather then wasting time searching stores. I've tested this my self.

Lay the crystallized hand warmer on the heating plate for about an hour, you have plenty of time to activate multiple hand warmers over a standard eight hour work day, after about an hour the fluid will be clear and ready for use. Better, it will be hot. Not instantly burning your skin hot, more like hot wax hot. And it retains that heat for around 30 to 45 minutes.
